Elden Ring: How to Complete Blaidd's Quest

May-30-2025 PST Category: Elden Ring
Among the many memorable characters in Elden Ring, Blaidd the Half-Wolf stands out for his loyalty, fierce strength, and tragic fate. As Ranni the Witch's loyal shadow, Blaidd's questline intertwines with some of the most important story beats in the Lands Between. Completing his storyline offers not only deep lore insights but also powerful Elden Ring Items, the chance to earn bonus Elden Ring Runes, and participation in a major boss battle.

Here's a complete walkthrough of Blaidd's quest, from his haunting howl in the Mistwood to his final confrontation outside Ranni's Rise.

How to Meet Blaidd

Your journey with Blaidd begins in Mistwood, where you might hear a wolf's howl near the ruins. If this occurs, head to Merchant Kale at the Church of Elleh and inquire about it. Kale will teach you the Finger Snap gesture, which is key to summoning Blaidd.

Return to Mistwood Ruins and use the Finger Snap. Blaidd will leap down from the highest ruin and introduce himself, explaining he is searching for a traitor named Darriwil.

Fighting Darriwil

Darriwil can be found inside the Forlorn Hound Evergaol, where Blaidd becomes available as a summon. Join forces with him to defeat Darriwil. After the fight:

Speak to Blaidd for a Somber Smithing Stone (if this is your first time interacting with him before progressing Ranni's quest).

Talk to him again to unlock dialogue about War Counselor Iji, a blacksmith located along the Road to the Manor in Liurnia of the Lakes.

Telling Iji that "Blaidd sent you" unlocks the Carian Filigreed Crest, a talisman that reduces FP cost of skills, one of many essential Elden Ring Items for certain builds.

Note: If you fight Darriwil before meeting Blaidd in Mistwood, he'll still appear, but you may miss the Somber Smithing Stone reward.

Progressing with Ranni's Quest

To continue, begin Ranni the Witch's questline in northwest Liurnia. Upon pledging yourself to her service, Blaidd becomes part of her cadre, along with Seluvis and War Counselor Iji.

Your next meeting with Blaidd is in Siofra River, which you can access via the elevator in Mistwood. Blaidd can be found on a cliff east of the Siofra River Bank Site of Grace, looking over the landscape near a Spirit Spring.

He will ask you to investigate Preceptor Seluvis, who points you toward Sorceress Sellen. After following this lead and speaking with Sellen, return to Blaidd, who will now plan to attend the Radahn Festival at Redmane Castle.

The Radahn Festival

You can trigger the Radahn Festival by progressing Ranni's questline or by using the Grand Lift of Dectus. Regardless of how it begins, Blaidd will appear in the castle courtyard alongside other warriors.

Speak to Festival Overseer Jerren, and the festival will commence. Blaidd becomes available as a summon in the fight against Starscourge Radahn in the Wailing Dunes, one of Elden Ring's most dramatic and essential battles.

Pro Tip: This boss battle is a fantastic way to earn large amounts of Elden Ring Runes, especially with NPC support.

After the fight, find Blaidd near the Radahn Site of Grace. He reflects on the battle and Ranni's plans, deepening the emotional weight of his arc.

Blaidd's Fate

After Radahn's defeat and once you leave the Wailing Dunes, Blaidd is imprisoned by Iji inside the Forlorn Hound Evergaol, the same place you first summoned him. This scene is optional, but offers unique dialogue and insight into Blaidd's unraveling mental state.

If you continue Ranni's quest past the Lake of Rot and defeat Astel, Naturalborn of the Void, return to Ranni's Rise. There, you'll find Blaidd standing guard outside, but tragically, he has lost control of himself.

Blaidd is now hostile and will attack you. Defeating him is the only option.

Final Rewards and Legacy

Upon defeating Blaidd, you are rewarded with:

Blaidd's Greatsword, a colossal weapon with a unique moveset

    Blaidd's Armor Set (helm excluded)

The Black Wolf Mask (Blaidd's helm), found atop a wall near Seluvis's Rise

These are among the most striking and lore-rich Elden Ring Items, especially prized by strength and fashion builds alike. Completing Blaidd's quest also contributes to a deeper understanding of Ranni's storyline and the tragic fate of those bound to serve her.

Why Complete Blaidd's Quest

Blaidd's quest isn't just about fighting bosses and collecting loot. It's a masterclass in Elden Ring's storytelling, melancholic, mystical, and memorable.

Here's what you'll gain along the way:

Valuable Elden Ring Runes from key battles like Radahn

Powerful Elden Ring Items, including the Carian Filigreed Crest, Blaidd's sword, and armor

Insight into the interconnected narratives of Ranni, Iji, and Seluvis

One of the best NPC storylines in the game, from loyal companion to tragic end

Blaidd's story mirrors the duality of strength and sorrow that defines the world of Elden Ring. His journey is unforgettable, just like the echo of his howl in the Mistwood.
