Aion 2 Boss Guide: Iscario – Mechanics, Strategies, and Color Assignment
Welcome back. A new Sanctuary means a new batch of boss guides. This guide covers Iscario, the first mini-boss of the new instance. There are no rewards for defeating it, and you will have to kill it every time you re-enter the instance. Mechanics will be covered in a vacuum due to the randomness of some patterns and the HP-based phasing. Whether you choose to farm the necessary gear yourself or buy Aion 2 items to prepare for the fight, understanding Iscario's color-based mechanics is essential for consistent clears. Let us get right into it.

Part 1: Overview
Iscario is a color-mechanic heavy fight. Once you are assigned a color (red or green) during the first major mechanic, that color sticks with you for the rest of the encounter. Dying does not strip your color. However, if you miss getting hit by a line during that first mechanic, you will be unable to handle any subsequent color mechanics.
Simplest strategy: Assign each group to a specific color. In the example used here, Group One is assigned to green and Group Two to red.
Part 2: First Major Mechanic – 75% HP (Reverse Stack + Bombs)
At 75% HP, Iscario will lock its stagger bar, teleport to the center of the room, and unleash a reverse stack marker on itself. This knocks down anyone hit and kills them if more than three people stand inside it. The boss becomes untargetable.
Line AoEs
The boss then unleashes two sets of eight projectile line AoEs:
First set: Red lines
Second set: Green lines
Anyone hit by a line receives an aura of that corresponding color. This color will remain for the rest of the fight.
Bomb Spawn
Two bombs spawn north and south of the boss:
One green bomb
One red bomb
Stack markers of the corresponding colors then target each bomb.
Critical Rules
If the bombs' AoEs overlap even slightly at the end of the cast, they will explode and cause a wipe.
Standing outside the stack or inside the stack of the opposite color will kill you.
Players marked with the same color as a bomb can hit that bomb to push it in the opposite direction.
How to Solve
Each player affected with a color moves toward their respective colored bomb, pushes it away from the other bomb, and then waits for the stack to resolve.
Part 3: Second Major Mechanic – 65% HP (Guardian of the Order)
At 65% HP, Iscario locks its stagger bar, teleports to the center, places a purple barrier around itself (drastically reducing damage taken), and begins casting Guardian of the Order.
Sequence
Two seconds after the cast begins, the boss unleashes a donut AoE all around itself.
After the donut resolves, the following spawn:
Two red bombs and two green bombs around the boss
Two red and two green portals on the edge of the arena
Four black holes halfway between the bombs and portals
Positions (Always the Same)
Red bombs spawn west and south of the boss
Green bombs spawn east and north
Colored portals spawn in the opposite positions
Goal
Colored bombs must be kicked into portals of the corresponding color. Once a bomb enters a portal, the portal targets the closest player with a line AoE. Aiming that line at the boss damages its shield. Four hits break the shield and stagger the boss. Failing to do so causes the cast to finish and one-shot the entire party.
Black Hole Interaction
Kicking a bomb into a black hole teleports it randomly near the boss. If this happens, you still have enough time to try again if you act quickly.
Part 4: Third Major Mechanic – 25% HP (Guardian of the Order with AoE Drops)
At 25% HP, the boss repeats the Guardian of the Order mechanic. Placement and goals remain the same, but with an added danger.
Five seconds into the mechanic, the boss targets every party member with either a plus sign (+) or sickle marker. Ten seconds in, and again nineteen seconds in, these markers cause players to drop an AoE of the same shape on the ground. These AoEs hit very hard and cannot be blocked or evaded.
Organization Strategy
Split each color group into two teams of two. Each team is assigned one bomb of their corresponding color.
Main kicker: Kicks the bomb toward its portal, wings around the black hole
Backup: Stays on hold at the cardinal edge between portals to drop their AoEs away from the kickers, ready to take over if something happens
For the Kicker at 25%
Do not rush the mechanic. Instead:
Kick the bomb close to the portal
Walk away to drop your AoE
Wait for the AoE to resolve
Then kick the bomb into the portal to shoot the line at the boss
Going too fast risks getting hit and killed by an AoE while aiming your line, which would cause a wipe.
Part 5: Fourth Major Mechanic – 50% HP (Merciless Chromatic Judgment)
At 50% HP, Iscario locks its stagger bar, jumps to the middle of the room, and begins casting Merciless Chromatic Judgment.
Bomb Positions
Red bombs spawn directly east and west of the boss
Green bombs spawn directly north and south
Strategy
Use the same pairings to decide which team goes where. Each team kicks their bombs toward the edge and stands inside the stack to survive the mechanic.
Important note: These stacks only indicate a safe spot and do not deal damage. If one player dies or is missing, a single person can handle the mechanic alone.
Part 6: Filler Mechanics
Frontal Cleave Combo
The boss can perform a frontal cleave followed by a large point-blank AoE (slightly larger than the cleave), then a donut with a safe spot smaller than the previous AoE. These hit very fast.
Survival method (if you cannot block): Stand on the edge of the point-blank, then quickly dodge inward to reach the donut safe spot. Getting hit inflicts moderate damage, a stun, and a stackable burn.
Five Circle AoEs
The boss can drop five circle AoEs on every member in a row. Getting hit deals heavy damage and inflicts a burn.
Star-Shaped AoEs (Alchemist's Chakrams)
The boss unleashes two star-shaped AoEs, with the second covering the first's safe spot. Both will go off again a few seconds later.
Shield Marker / Puddle Mechanic
The boss teleports to the furthest target and spawns a circle orange AoE with a shield marker randomly nearby. Leaving it alone causes an explosion and leaves a large puddle that inflicts heavy tick damage.
Solution: A melee player must step into the circle and use a blocking skill to soak the hit (similar to Ludus' red tower mechanic).
Before 50%: One puddle appears. One melee must soak.
After 50%: Two puddles appear. Two melees must be on lookout.
After 25%: Tornadoes may spawn after teleporting, partially covering a puddle. Pay extra attention.
Part 7: Additional Mechanics
Reverse Stack Marker (Orbs)
The boss brings up red orbs above itself, indicating players will be marked with a reverse stack marker.
Before 50%: The four closest targets get marked.
After 50%: The boss may mark all eight party members.
Positioning: Melee take a small back step on the cardinals of the boss. Rangers dodge backward on the intercardinals. This mechanic happens sporadically with a very fast tell. Stay close to your spreading position throughout the fight. Two people standing inside the same stack will kill both.
Tornadoes + Beam
The boss unleashes tornadoes that move around the arena. Contact inflicts a stackable burn and sucks you inward. After summoning tornadoes, the boss unleashes a beam that sweeps from various positions (7:00 and 5:00; 11:00 and 5:00 clockwise; or 1:00 and 7:00 clockwise).
Melee: Stand behind the boss. When the boss brings up orbs and the back indicator suddenly moves, use your block to avoid beam damage.
Range: When tornadoes spawn, run to the edge to outrange the beam.
Pull + Point-Blank AoE
The boss pulls all party members toward it and unleashes a small point-blank AoE. Dodging immediately after being pulled allows you to perfect dodge the AoE.
If you fail to dodge: You are marked with either an X or a circle. You will drop an AoE of the same shape a few seconds later.
X marker: Drops with the same orientation as shown under your feet. Walk forward based on that orientation.
Circle marker: Drops a small point-blank that slowly expands into donut AoEs twice.
These AoEs cannot be dodged or blocked. Drop them toward the outside of the arena if marked.
After the AoEs drop, the boss will either drop a small point-blank AoE on the four closest targets or do a beam (identical to the one described above). If you are ranged, walk toward the edge of the arena after being pulled, even if you successfully dodged the point-blank.
Part 9: Final Tips
Do not rush the 25% kicker mechanic. Patience prevents wipes.
Dying does not remove your color, but missing the initial line hit makes you useless for the rest of the fight.
The tell for reverse stack markers is very fast. Stay near your spread position at all times.
After 25%, tornadoes can obscure puddles. Pay close attention.
